The speculative poster series employs imagery by Mark Hunter, a.k.a. The Cobra Snake, to reinterpret Simone Rocha’s Disgruntled Debutante from a raw, youth-oriented perspective. The use of flash-heavy, unpolished photography creates a sense of authenticity that intentionally contrasts with Rocha’s romantic motifs of pearls, bows, and hyper-femininity. Graphic interventions, including defaced florals, dripping text, and exaggerated pearl motifs, disrupt the imagery to challenge the conventional debutante archetype. This strategy generates a visual language that is both restless and confrontational, reflecting a generation that rejects perfection while continuing to seek beauty.
This project proposes a sharper and more emotionally charged direction for fashion advertising, in which softness coexists with frustration and femininity is presented as powerful, messy, and unapologetically modern.
